Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara (also known by the abbreviated OUATIMD) is an upcoming Bollywood crime gangster film directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor andShobha Kapoor. It is a sequel to the 2010 hit film Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. The project featuresAkshay KumarSonakshi SinhaImran Khan and Sonali Bendre in signed roles respectively. The film, earlier known as Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again was renamed to its present name on 13 June 2013[2] . The film is expected to release onIndependence Day, 15th August 2013, thus avoids clashing with Rohit Shetty directorial Chennai Expresswhich is releasing one week earlier on 8th August 2013. The trailer released on 28th May 2013.[1]

Filming[edit]

The filming began in Mumbai during August 2012. Some parts have also been shot inOman.[3] Akshay Kumar will be playing the fictitious role of gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Kumar's character look was revealed on an reality show on Aapka Colors. It has also been reported that the film will feature an sequence with Kumar watching a cricketmatch as shown in trailer released on 28th may 2013 but the match is between Indiaand Pakistan at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium in the '80s, is not been confirmed.[4]

Casting[edit]

The lead actor was firstly chosen to be played by Emraan Hashmi, who also appeared in the original film. However, director Milan Luthria was searching for an older actor, and hence chose Akshay Kumar. Kumar is to play the role of Shoaib Khan (Dawood Ibrahim). In February 2012, it was announced that there were two male leads in the film, and the second parallel to Kumar, was signed to Shahid Kapoor. However, in March 2012, it was finalized that Imran Khan was actually playing the second male lead.[5] Many female actors were considered for the female lead, including Illeana D'CruzKareena KapoorKangna RanautSonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, however in April 2012, it was reported that Sonakshi Sinha had been casted.[6]Sonali Bendre has also been roped in to play a leading character in the film.[7][8] The film will mark Sonali Bendre's first role since Shankar Dada MBBS. In November 2012, it was announced that the film is scheduled to release on Eid 2013.[9][10] TV actor Chetan Hansraj will also play a pivotal negative part in this film.

Promotion[edit]

In order to promote the film, Akshay Kumar travelled to Birmingham to watch the India-Pakistan cricket match of 2013 ICC Champions Trophy on June 15, 2013.[11][12]

Controversies[edit]

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express and Akshay Kumar starrer Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara both have been abandoned by Pakistani distributors and exhibitors in the interest of four of their films releasing on the same day.[13]

Soundtrack[edit]

The song, "Ye Tune Kya Kiya", sung by Javed Bashir and composed by music composer Pritam premiered on YouTube on 15th June, 2013[14]as the lead single from the upcoming soundtrack album.
